What we collect when you send an enquiry, why, and how long we keep it.

Who is responsible

The controller for this website is Marqetlife, Edgar Fluijt, Bergmannstrasse 57, 10961 Berlin, Germany.

Email edgar@marqetlife.com or telephone +49 173 4298919. There is no statutory requirement for us to appoint a data protection officer.

What we collect

Enquiry form: your name, email address, travel dates, number of travellers, and anything you write in the notes field.

Alongside it we record where the enquiry came from: the page the form was on, the page you first landed on, the site that referred you if it was not this one, and any campaign parameters in the link you followed. It tells us which pages are worth writing. It is read from the address bar as you submit and is not stored on your device.

Server logs: our hosting provider records the IP address, browser user agent, time and page requested for every visit. This is normal web server operation and is needed to deliver the site and defend it against abuse.

Analytics, but only if you agree to it. Nothing is loaded and nothing is stored until you say yes — see the section below.

There is no advertising pixel on this site and we run no ads.

We also count submissions per IP address for a short window to stop the forms being abused. That count is held in memory only and is never written down.

Google Analytics, and how to say no

If you agree when asked, this site uses Google Analytics 4, run by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4. It tells us which pages are read, how people arrive, and roughly where in the world they are — which is how we decide what to write next.

If you decline, nothing happens: no script is fetched, no cookie is set, and your browser never contacts Google at all. Declining is a single click and costs you nothing on this site. The only thing kept in your browser either way is a note of the answer you gave, so we do not ask again on every page.

The legal basis is your consent, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, together with §25(1) TTDSG for storing anything on your device. You can withdraw it at any time through the Cookie settings link at the bottom of any page, with effect for the future. Withdrawing is as easy as giving it.

Advertising features, remarketing and Google Signals are switched off. IP addresses are shortened by Google before storage. Data is held for 14 months and then deleted automatically.

Google Ireland may pass data to Google LLC in the United States. Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which the European Commission has recognised as offering an adequate level of protection. You should know that US authorities may in principle be able to access such data.

You can also block Google Analytics everywhere with Google's own browser add-on, at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Why, and on what legal basis

Enquiry data is processed to answer your enquiry and to have an itinerary and price prepared for you. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR — steps taken at your request before entering into a contract.

Server logs are processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating a secure and functioning website, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

We do not use your data for marketing unless you ask us to.

Who we share it with, and the transfer to Egypt

Your enquiry is passed to our partner tour operator in Egypt, who prepares the itinerary, quotes the price and contracts with you directly. Without that transfer we cannot answer your enquiry at all.

Egypt is a third country and is not covered by a European Commission adequacy decision. The transfer is made under Art. 49(1)(b) GDPR, because it is necessary to take steps you have requested before entering into a contract. You should be aware that Egyptian law does not offer a level of data protection equivalent to the GDPR, and that enforcing your rights there may be harder than in the EU.

If you would rather your details were not sent to Egypt, do not use the enquiry form — write to edgar@marqetlife.com instead and say so.

Processors we use

Hosting and delivery: Vercel Inc., serving this site from data centres in the European Union under a data processing agreement.

Enquiry routing: OpenVoy, our own lead platform, which receives the form submission and forwards it.

Email: Namecheap, Inc. provides forwarding for the address on this domain.

Analytics: Google Ireland Limited, and only for visitors who have agreed to it.

Fonts are self-hosted and served from this domain. No request is made to Google when you load a page, so no data reaches Google through the typefaces this site uses.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that lead to a booking are kept for as long as the German commercial and tax retention periods require, which is up to ten years for documents with accounting relevance.

Enquiries that do not lead to a booking are deleted after 24 months. We keep them that long because travel plans are often postponed and people come back.

Server logs are kept for a short period by our hosting provider and then discarded.

Your rights

You can ask us for access to your data, correction of it, deletion, restriction of processing, and a copy in portable form. You can object to processing based on legitimate interest. Where processing rests on consent, you can withdraw it at any time with effect for the future.

Write to edgar@marqetlife.com and we will deal with it.

You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority. For us that is the Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit, but you may complain to the authority where you live.
