Sharm el Sheikh weather · March
Sharm el Sheikh in March is warm and bright, with highs of about 26C and nights of about 17C. The sea is still 23C, and you get about 10 hours of sun a day. Rain falls on about one day in the month. Eid al-Fitr and Western Easter both land in March 2027, so book early. Below are swimming, wind, holidays, packing and day trips.
Yes, for most people. 26C is warm beach weather without the summer heat, and 10 hours of sun gives long days outside.
The one catch is the sea, which is still at its cool level of 23C. Swimmers who want warm water should wait for May or later.
March suits families at Easter, walkers and anyone combining the beach with Cairo. Divers are fine with a full wetsuit.
Yes. The air now runs warmer than the sea, so a swim feels refreshing on a hot afternoon. At 23C the water is cool rather than cold.
Divers usually still wear a 5 mm wetsuit in March. Snorkellers can manage a short swim without one.
Children tend to feel the cool water first. A kids' wetsuit or rash vest keeps them in the sea longer.
The northerly still blows, and a rough day can cancel the boats to Tiran or Ras Mohammed. Leave a spare day in your plan for the trip that matters most.
From late March, Egypt can also get the khamsin. This hot, dusty wind can bring sand for a day or two. It is hard to predict and rarely spoils a whole trip, but it can blur photos.
On a dusty day, swap the boat for the pool or a slow morning on the house reef.
Across Egypt, March is busy and prices are high. Ramadan is expected to end around 8 or 9 March.
Eid al-Fitr is expected on 9 or 10 March. It is a public holiday of several days. Coastal hotels fill with Egyptian families, so book rooms and flights early if your dates touch it.
Western Easter falls on 28 March 2027. UK and European school holidays start around then, and Red Sea prices rise with them.
Pack summer clothes, plus a light layer for evenings at about 17C. A thin fleece is enough.
Sunglasses earn their place on a khamsin day. A scarf or buff helps keep sand out of your face.
Bring reef shoes, a rash vest and reef-safe sunscreen for the water. The sun is strong on a shallow reef.
March is a good month for Mount Sinai. The climb is comfortable, though the summit is still cold before dawn. The monastery is normally shut on Fridays and Sundays, so check your date.
Cairo reaches about 24C in March, and flights take about an hour. Luxor is about 29C, still easy for temples. Luxor is far from Sinai, so give it its own leg.
Dahab is about ninety minutes up the coast by road. It makes an easy day out from the resort.
Memphis Tours, the operator whose trips we sell, has no set Sharm tour. Send a request and we will ask for a tailor-made plan for your dates.
February is cooler, at 24C by day and 15C at night, with 9 hours of sun. The sea is the same 23C.
April jumps to 30C by day and 21C at night. The sea is still 23C, and the sun stays at 10 hours.
March is the last month where the air stays below 30C until autumn. All three share a 23C sea.
Warm rather than hot. Highs are about 26C and nights about 17C, with about 10 hours of sun.
About 23C, the same as February and April. Divers usually wear a 5 mm wetsuit.
Eid al-Fitr is expected on 9 or 10 March 2027. Dates depend on the moon sighting, so check a few days before you travel.
Yes. Western Easter is 28 March 2027, and school holidays push up prices on the Red Sea. Book early.
A hot, dusty wind that can hit Egypt from late March. It brings sand for a day or two and is hard to predict.
Yes, it is one of the better months for the climb. The top is still cold before dawn, so bring warm layers.
