Sharm el Sheikh weather · February
Sharm el Sheikh in February is sunny and mild, with highs of about 24C and nights of about 15C. The sea cools to 23C, one of the lowest readings of the year. There are about 9 hours of sun a day and one rain day in the month. Ramadan 2027 is expected to start around 8 February. Here is what that means, plus swimming, wind and packing.
For sun and comfortable sightseeing, yes. 24C by day is warm enough for the beach on a sheltered afternoon.
For swimmers, February is the start of the coolest water of the year. The sea holds at about 23C from February to April.
It suits walkers, couples and anyone heading to Mount Sinai or Petra. Divers will enjoy it with the right wetsuit.
Yes. 23C feels fresh for the first minute, then fine for a short swim. Long snorkels get chilly without a wetsuit.
For divers this is the time for a 5 mm wetsuit. People who feel the cold add a hood.
The house reefs reached by a jetty are good on calm mornings. Water is often flatter early in the day.
The northerly blows on this coast in every month. In February it is usually lighter than in summer, but it can still cancel the Tiran boats for a day or two.
Plan four or five boat days in a diving week, not six. Put Ras Mohammed early in the trip so you have a spare day.
A boat ride back in a February breeze feels cold. Take a fleece or windproof top on board.
Across Egypt, February is busy with high prices. UK and European half-term fills the middle of the month and lifts rates for a week or two. Booking either side of it saves money.
Ramadan 2027 is expected from about 8 February to 8 or 9 March. The resorts run as normal. Shops and cafes in town change their hours.
The Sharm el-Sheikh Museum has split hours during Ramadan, 10am to noon and 8pm to 11pm. Islamic dates are estimates until the new moon is seen, so check close to your trip.
Bring summer clothes for the day and a warm layer for nights at about 15C. A light jacket is enough for most evenings.
If you plan to snorkel a lot, bring your own mask and a rash vest. Reef shoes help on the stony shore.
In Ramadan, dress a little more covered when you go into town. Inside the resorts, normal beachwear is fine.
Petra in Jordan is a long day trip. The Memphis Tours plan collects you at 1:00am, drives to Taba and takes the ferry to Aqaba. You are back at about 1:00am the next night.
Mount Sinai is cold at the top before dawn in February. Take full winter layers if you climb for sunrise.
Cairo is about an hour by air and reaches about 21C in February. Luxor is about 25C, a lovely temperature for temples, but it is best kept for its own leg.
Our partner, Memphis Tours, has no set Sharm itinerary. Send a request and we will ask them for a tailor-made plan for your February dates.
January is cooler on land, at 22C by day and 14C at night. Its sea is warmer, at 24C, with 8 hours of sun.
March warms up to 26C by day and 17C at night. The sea stays at 23C, and you get 10 hours of sun.
February sits in between on air temperature. It shares March's 23C sea.
Yes, by day. Highs are about 24C with about 9 hours of sun. Nights drop to about 15C, so pack a light jacket.
About 23C, one of the coolest readings of the year. Divers wear a 5 mm wetsuit, and some add a hood.
Ramadan 2027 is expected to start around 8 February and end around 8 or 9 March. Resorts run as normal. Hours change in town.
Yes. Half-term from the UK and Europe lifts prices for a week or two in mid-February. Travel either side to save.
Hardly. The average is one rain day in the month.
Yes. The water is 23C and usually clear. A wetsuit or rash vest lets you stay in longer.
