Is February a good time to visit Hurghada?

February is a good month for sun-seekers who dislike heat. Days are bright and comfortable, and the light lasts longer than in January.

It is a strong month for a Nile cruise with a few beach days. Luxor averages about 25C, still easy for temples.

Swimmers who want warm water should wait. At 22C the sea is the coolest it gets all year.

Is the sea warm enough to swim in Hurghada in February?

It is swimmable, but cool. The sea averages about 22C in February, and many people limit themselves to short dips.

For snorkelling and diving, a thicker wetsuit makes sense. In the coldest weeks, many divers add a hood.

The clear winter water is the upside. Visibility on the reefs is at its best this time of year.

Is Hurghada windy in February?

February is a calm month by Hurghada standards. Windfinder's airport averages from 2000 to 2026 put it at about 11 knots.

That helps the boat days. Giftun trips and the long day out to the Abu Nuhas wrecks run more often when the wind is light.

A breezy day still feels cool on deck. Bring a windproof top for the trip home.

Crowds, prices and Ramadan in Hurghada in February

Egypt in February is busy, with high prices. That is one step below January's peak.

Half-term from Europe lifts prices for a week or two in the middle of the month. Travelling either side of it saves money.

Ramadan 2027 is expected from about 8 February to 8 or 9 March. In the resorts, life runs much as normal. In Hurghada town, opening hours change.

The Abu Simbel sun festival falls on 22 February, far to the south. From Hurghada it means a long trip via Luxor and Aswan.

What to pack for Hurghada in February

Bring summer clothes for the day and warm ones for the night. Lows average about 12C, the same as January.

Sunscreen and sunglasses matter more than people expect. Ten hours of sun on bright water is plenty to burn.

Pack a warm layer for evening meals outside. If you dive, plan for a thicker wetsuit and maybe a hood.
